COME CELEBRATE WITH US!
It’s finally here! The long awaited EP RELEASE has arrived!
Token Folk will be officially releasing “Introducing” the EP on September 16th at the White Rabbit In Fremont / Seattle. Physical copies will be available for all paying guests at the door.

We have a fantastic line up this evening full of GREAT people, good tunes, raw spit, and fabulous vibes!!
SIDE PONY: If you haven’t seen these ladies yet, I am not sure what rock you’ve been hiding under. Side Pony has been massaging the town into their playland with super fun and smirking jams. Most people probably know them for the joint “Thicky Thick Anthem” as it is one of those tracks that you will find yourself singing days after you hear it. Catchy indeed, but please do not think, by any stretch of the imagination, that disqualifies the ladies from lyrical integrity. Best believe their style won’t fit into no skinny minds….unless they’re hella stretchy!! You will see what I mean….or you will continue hiding under your rock.
GREG & JEROME: I once saw Greg & Jerome be announced prior to their performance with the warning “these guys are from the East Coast…show these cats love”. Being a midwest baby, the statement stuck out as odd. Then later it made more sense. There aren’t cats doing what Greg & Jerome are doing in Seattle. The warning was to the listeners dwelling in their safe-house of swag and party rap, as if to say “don’t be skeered! You ARE allowed to think”. These cats spit with so much energy that you will walk away sore (in a good way…like that burn after a really healthy work out). Spitfire ak47 mouth equipped, the duo will consume every last available space in your brain with content and charisma. Listen for my favorite track “Pink Elephants” produced by OC Notes.
THIRDEYETHEORY: But WEIGHT! There’s more! Having just released their latest mixtape “Sorry For The Weight” (get it FREE here), these cats are hungry. The mixtape features town familiars such as Graves, ENDRWON, RockWell Powers, Abadawn, UnLimited Mc, AC, and (someone you may have heard of) IFTHEN (of Token Folk). But the truth is, they didn’t really need any features since KNOWN and DUMBFOUND are two very proficient spitters themselves. Come see these cats tear it up live …you will be pleasantly satisfied with yourself for having actually shown up on time for an event. This line up offers no weak links!
and as with every TOKEN FOLK headlined show…we will be opening the mic up at at the end of our set for the CYPHER!!! who got frees?

The time has arrived! May I present to you… “The Vibes“.
In the midst of a firestorm of shows, impromptu street performances, shooting videos and let’s just say other things, Token Folk has been furiously working on new material. The wait has been long enough! The Vibes is the first release from “Introducing” the EP set to release on September 16th. The video, shot completely at Pike Place Market, was filmed, directed, and produced by Seattle videographer and good friend Mark Munden. Check out some of his work here. As for us…oh, there’s more on the way.
For now, mark your calendars for September 16th! The EP release party is at The White Rabbit in Fremont. We have an exciting show lined up… but more on that later. You should be downloading the leak track below!

RED IN THE FACE!!!! (hopefully)
In case you have been unaware of the plead campaign for votes that we recently bombarded our friends with, IT PAYED OFF! We made it to the final vote stage. Thank you to everyone who voted for us. It is in the Tomato Battle’s Staff”s hands now. We are hoping to be the first hip Hop group to be performing the unmatched TOMATO BATTLE ! Yup you heard right. The Tomato Battle is just that: a huge frickin battle with Tomatoes. This is the first Seattle event and is (per a recent announcement) going to be headlined by Super Geek League. We’ll keep you posted about the results….

Hip Hop, Poetry, & Face Melting!!! (don’t be skuurrd)
Join us at the High Dive in Fremont for a special one-of-a-kind evening of hip hop and post-punk-poem-blues. We have been on a tear this summer pumping that future classic hip hop sound through the venues and hearts of Seattle. Why stop? (Don’t worry….it can’t stop won’t stop)
Now we’re linking with VICE VERSUS, which -if you don’t already know- is a collaboration project between two very talented NW emcees. Both already being established as solo artists, SARX and NAME THE UNCANNY pool their respective efforts to form a powerhouse of thought provoking lyrics and high energy stage shows.
Like magma, FRENCH LETTERS are that red hot, landscape shaping force moving just below the surface of the Seattle scene. With the audacity to coin their own genre, this post-punk-poem-blues band challenges more than just reviewers and critic. Be offended, be entertained, be warned….be there! (P.S. you may recognize the drummer if you are at all familiar with Token Folk)
Recently un-relocating from Indianapolis, DAWHUD is back in Seattle and ready to bring his 90s Boom Bap style to the HIGH DIVE for what he calls “a pseudo homecoming set featuring tracks from “Basement Sessions,” “Dub Styles” & possibly the other projects I’m working on.” Come out and welcome the homie…well…home!

Saturday Morning Cartoon on Saturday Night!
This Saturday at the LoFi Performance Gallery on Eastlake we will be throwing down for the homies Saturday Morning Cartoon‘s Official Debut Album Release party. [FB EVENT LINK] If you haven’t checked out their album yet, hop on over HERE and cop “Cereal Box Superheroes”.
The Release party is jam packed with fresh Seattle Sounds. Where to start? Howabout THE RUSH PROJECT? Not to mention having a dope webdesigner (click the link on their name), these cats are funky, catchy, and will be worth checking out live. Then there’s the Town icon JULIE C (of Alpha P and Knox Family) who just dropped her SLIDING SCALE EP (<– click the link) which you can cop for free. We played a show with her at the White Rabbit no too long back and; so with experience I can say this emcee is nothing to take lightly – whether talking cadence, delivery, or content. SPEKULATION will be in the house rocking a set. This cat is super cool (admittedly slightly biased since he hooked me up with a free cup of coffee at All City) and hella talented. You can check out his latest project WEGOBOOM! or peep his music video for “Hard To Imagine” if you don’t believe me. {PSSST: Token Folk is performing this stellar evening} GREG & JEROME will be dumpin on yall as well. I’ve met (and freestyled with) both of these cats and can confidently advise you not to miss their set. I will be personally anticipating it. Last and certainly not least…give it up for (possibly the hardest working DJ in the 6) DJ SEABEFORE! This man is EVERYWHERE! Seriously. He’ll be holding down the 1s & 2s for the evening. And if that wasn’t enough to assure you that you were in good hands, this whole spectacular shindig will be hosted by LADY SCRIBE!
